Inorganic reaction Mechanism (part1)

Inorganic Reaction Mechanism:

Stability :
When we say the compound is stable it means that the complex exist and undergo suitable condition it may be store for long time.

2type of stability:
1) Thermodynamic stability:
Thermodynamic stability is major of that instant to which the complex will form or transform into the other species.
When the system in equilibrium this stability occur with metal ligands, bondenergy etc.
2)Kinetic Stability :
This type of stability refered to the speed in which transformation leading to the equilibrium will occur. For kinetic stability  deals with rate, mechanism etc.

Labile and inert complex:
Depending on whether the rate of substitution reaction incomplexes is slow or fast the complexes has been classified as kinetically labile or kinetical inner complexes by taube.

Labile:
The complexes in which the ligands are rapidly replaced by other are called labile. The rate at which one complex convert intho another is governed by the height of the activation energy berrier that lies between them. Thus the labile complexes are low activation energy.

An example of labile complexes is Hexaauanickel(II) ion which have a half life of the order of miliseconds before the water is replace by a stronger base.

Non-labile or inner complex:
The complexes in which substitution reaction take place slowly are called nonlabile or inner complex. In this case activation energy high in kinetic consideration the word non labile is apprepiate in place of inner.
An example of inner complexs is pentammineaquacobalt(III) ion in which water servives for several minutes  as a ligand before it is replace by a stronger base.
