Inorganic Reaction Mechanism part(III)
Inorganic Reaction Mechanism part(III):
Interchange mechanism:
In this mechanism the leaving group and coming group exchange in a single step and does forming a transition state
Interchange mechanism is like associative mechanism but difference is seen only the basis of whether or not the intermediate persist.
As in interchange mechanism that intermediate is not true intermediate it exist for a very small fraction of time it can be easily differentiate from the associative mechanism when the intermediate is seen spectroscopicaly and can be isolated than the mechanism ust be associative
The interchange mechanism explain cobalt(III) complex as follows
Here the greater steric requirement of methylamine encourage dissociation of chloride ligands there is growing evidence that substitution reaction in complex may not be tripical of octa hydral transition metal complex.
